Do you find yourself wondering what’s okay to watch or what isn’t? We love a good movie but I have learned I need to do some research before we watch any movies! Not only for the girls but for myself as well. I believe it is so important that we guard our hearts as the Bible teaches (Proverbs 4:23). I haven’t always done a good job of this for myself but as God has worked in me he has helped me to see the impact of what I take in. I’m sure you’ve heard it said what goes in comes out and I believe this to be true at least to some degree. What we watch and/or listen to has more of an effect on us than we realize. So I wanted to share one of my favorite resources, pluggedin.com. This is a Christian movie review website that gives you knowledge about positive and negative aspects of a movie from a Christ centered perspective. Therefore it empowers you to decide if it is something you or your children can watch. The website doesn’t condemn or condone but rather looks at both positive and negative aspects giving you the knowledge to decide. Something I have heard Johnathan “JP” Pokluda say is “are you entertained by the things Christ died for?” What a wise question to ask ourselves. Friends we need to rid ourselves of being entertained by things that Christ had to endure the cross because of. Rather we must seek to honor God with what we listen to, watch, and/or read.
